RECORDING GUIDE

How to record your video

Two minutes of preparation make the difference between a full analysis and a "couldn't analyse this video".

  • QUICK SUMMARY
  • 1One stroke, 8 to 10 seconds
  • 2Whole body, head to feet
  • 3Phone propped up, steady camera
  • 4Good light and contrast with the background
  • 5Higher fps, lower resolution
WHERE TO PLACE THE PHONE

To the side, at waist height

From the side, the AI sees the arm loading and the torso rotation better. From behind also works, as long as the whole body is in frame from start to finish of the stroke.

Prop the phone on the fence, a bottle, or a small tripod. Vertical or horizontal, either works.

DO & DON'T

The three most common mistakes

Framing

DO

Head to feet, with room to spare.

DON'T

Feet or racquet outside the frame.

Camera

DO

Propped up and steady.

DON'T

Handheld, following the ball.

Light

DO

Light in front of you.

DON'T

Backlight and clothes the colour of the background.

8–10 s

One stroke only, with the preparation and follow-through. Very short videos don't give enough frames.

60+ fps

Fast strokes need more frames per second. If your phone has slow-motion, even better.

1080p

4K doesn't help the analysis and makes the file heavier. The upload limit is 100 MB.
